About
Hi! I'm Toni. I'm so excited that you found my little plant shop! This is a little family business where my husband and 7-year old all help out with packaging, shipping and doing a little celebration dance each time I get a sale.
I met my now-husband when I lived in the UK and he lived in Canada. I moved over in 2008 (my mum never quite forgave him!) and we were married the following year. We initially lived a DINK life in the GTA, with big jobs in banking - I work in Human Resources and my husband is a geek. When Miss Q arrived in 2014, our priorities changed and we packed up our home and careers and moved to Conestogo, just outside of Waterloo. I was really looking for a little community where we could live, work and love more locally - and we found it! I worked as a Director of HR in the healthcare sector from 2019. This was a completely new sector for me and that first year of the pandemic devastated not just our province and healthcare, but me. I left in 2021 to take some time to heal.
I've always loved plants and working with my hands. My dad was a bricklayer and the smell and feel of cement gives me such a comforting feeling. I enjoy making items from concrete and wood, and my love of plants really grew from a need for a mindful activity where I could nurture, learn and bring joy into a pandemic world.
I found I had a knack for growing quirky plants and finding the perfect pots brings me so much joy. I love collaborating with local artisans and my favourite products are curated boxes that includes plants and plant-related goodies made by local artists.
I don't know where this little venture will take me. But I have dreamed of owning a little shop selling quirky trinkets and one-off finds since I was a kid, and now seems like a great time to pursue this dream.
